Karen is a native Coloradan, having spent her life in and around the Colorado Springs area. Her knowledge of the Front Range gives her an acute awareness of many prime photo locations throughout the area.
Karen has two grown children that have willingly (and sometimes unwillingly) been her subjects throughout their lives. With over two decades of practice, Karen excels at capturing the true essence of each child and young adult.
Pets are one of her favorite subjects to photograph, and her dogs and cats frequently model for her. Currently she has four sweet dogs at home, as well as four adorable cats. Living in “the country” gives her animals plenty of room to explore the outside world, as well as numerous backgrounds when her animals double as models.
Karen also has a special tool in her toolkit: her business and life partner Joe Plaia. Now, most people don’t appreciate being referred to as a “special tool”, but Joe welcomes it. Joe and Karen work together to make each client’s photography experience both enjoyable and memorable.
Joe is “one of those” transplants from California. Even though he has “only” lived in the Denver area since 2014, his penchant for exploration and finding new places has added to the list of gorgeous locations for photo sessions.
Joe makes each session a true pleasure through his use of comedy. Joe has been a member of the Parker Players improv comedy troupe since 2016, and uses his comedic skills to make each client comfortable in front of the camera. Joe has found smiles in the most difficult of subjects, thus creating heartwarming photos for clients to cherish forever.
Whether a subject has two legs or four, Joe and Karen create a welcoming environment for everyone that we serve. What matters most to them is that every client of Karen Conrad Photography walks away with memories and images that will be forever cherished.
